A full house at Turf Moor will see Premier League newbies Burnley take on multiple European Champions Liverpool, in what promises to be a crackerjack of a game.

Burnley gaffer Sean Dyche speaking ahead of the game alluded to new record fee signing Steven Defour being thrown in at the deep end.

Dyche said, "Possibly. It’s one of things we’ll look at accordingly and he’s certainly a player we’ve been on for a while to bring him in.

“He’s got quality there’s no two ways about that but the adaptation to the Premier League is what we’re looking for because it is different.

“I’ve shown about that in some depth with him but his game understanding having played international football and Champions League football is pretty clear.

“It’s how he adapts to our group and how we want to go into the Premier League and do well.

“He knows it’ll be a challenge for us. He’s not coming here thinking we’ll be rolling around the top three all season and he wants to be a part of that.”

With the surprise departure of Dave Jones it is almost inevitable that Defour will make his debut against the Anfield giants.

Ashley Barnes is certain to miss out for the Clarets because of injury and Jon Flanagan is unavailable because the hosts have him on loan from Liverpool.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp looks likely to be heading to Turf Moor without £30 million summer signing Sadio Mane, who is strggling with a shoulder injury picked up in training.

Klopp is however not short of attacking options, he is blessed with plenty of attacking alternatives.

Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge will no doubt be considered to replace Mane if necessary, in the Liverpool starting eleven to face the Clarets.

Burnley old boy Danny Ings is reported to be a few weeks away from full fitness and is unlikely to feature in the game.

Rumours coming out of Liverpool currently suggest Klopp may consider sending Ings out on loan in an effort to fully rehabilitate the player.

Burnley is always nice at this time of the year! (TEC).
