The team are now set to embark on their first full season in the Internet Football Association and have turned to us for some help in sponsoring their players whilst they themselves continue to raise money for the Youth Foundation.
We spoke to new captain Will O'Neill this week and he told us: "With Euro 2008 now a distant memory and most clubs up and down the country returning for the gruelling pre-season schedule our attentions start to turn to the 2008/2009 season.
"That is certainly the case for the Burnley FC Supporters Team, with 2008/2009 being the first full season that BST team have participated in the IFA (Internet Football Association). For all the lads who take part with BST it is seen as the perfect day out, to play against teams up and down the country in the morning, then go and see "the big team" in the afternoon and hopefully cheer Owen and the boys to a victory.
"Whilst enjoying the football up and down the country there is also a serious side to what BST is all about and that is assisting where we can with the Clarets Mad Youth Foundation. It is our aim to forge ongoing links with them via Clarets Mad and the message board. During the last Clarets Mad meal (the Hamburg Humdinger) Kev Robinson handed over to Tony Scholes £125 on behalf of BST that would go towards the Clarets Mad Youth Foundation.
"In the week that Clarets Mad revealed that they would yet again be sponsoring local lad Adam Kay for the 2008/2009 season BST are also looking for player sponsors for the forthcoming season. This would enable the squad to get vital team wear and training equipment.
"There has already been significant interest from friends and family of the players and some local businesses, however, we do need more and at a cost of just £20 for the season we feel this is a great way to support your local Burnley Fans Team who in turn are supporting the Clarets Mad Youth Foundation. Some of the money from your player sponsorship would be donated straight back to the Foundation which in turn will help Vince Overson and his team at BFC.
