He came on for Steve Blathewick that day and went on to make fifteen appearances for the Clarets during that season, but, with Steve Davis returning followed by the signings of Mitchell Thomas and Ian Cox, he was never able to get back into the first team and eventually signed for Swindon in January 2001.
He's also played for Bristol City, Brentford and then Grimsby and has gone on to make 299 Football League appearances.
He hasn't played since September last year because of injury and that forced Grimsby to part company with him. Now he's hoping to get back into action with Gateshead for whom he played in a friendly against Workington.
Gateshead manager Ian Bogie said: "He is a big powerful centre half who is in good shape. We'll have a look at him in training this week and he will play against Morton on Thursday."
