O'Connor said after his first game: "President Don Evans and everyone at the club have been really friendly and helpful, and I've settled in really well. We have a good squad and they are a great bunch of lads as well."
He was snapped up on the advice of Lions' defender Jason Gavin of which O'Connor said: "My move to the Lions came about through Jason, who I played with in the same side in Ireland. I sent Don a video of me playing in England and the rest is history as they say.
"I'm really enjoying Perth, it is so different to back home, I love the weather and the beaches. But I did find my debut against Cockburn tough going as I'm a bit short of match fitness and the warm weather is something I'm not used to. It might take me another few weeks to get used to it."
