Eagles flies in to Bloomfield Road

It is over six years since Eagles, who will celebrate his 29th birthday tomorrow, joined the Clarets for a seven figure fee from Manchester United and he went on to make 120 league appearances for us in three seasons with probably his best spell coming in the first half of his third and last season.

Once we'd been relegated from the Premier League in 2010 he was always keen to try and get back there and when that opportunity came, in July 2011, he made the move to Bolton along with Tyrone Mears.

A year later saw him back in the Championship with Bolton where he sent two more years before Dougie Freedman released him. His last appearance at the Reebok for them was our 1-0 defeat there last season; four days later he made his last appearance at Millwall.

During the summer there was speculation that he was about to sign for Cardiff and then Derby. Nothing materialised and he spent time trying to win a deal at Millwall.

It was reported that he'd been training with Blackpool last week but they have confirmed today that he has been training with them in recent weeks, suggesting longer than we first thought.

Today he's signed a deal until 18th January 2015, a deal that will help Blackpool and their small squad over the busy Christmas and New Year period.

On completing the move, Eagles said: "I've got to do what I love to do best, and that is to excite the crowd, score and create. What I've seen of the club and staff so far has been brilliant.

"I'm chomping at the bit. I've obviously played against Blackpool before, the fans are brilliant with the drum at home, so I'll be looking forward to that."

Eagles could make his debut against Bolton this Saturday when the two clash at Bloomfield Road.
