A special Claret - a special day

A thread on the message board this morning recalled that day against Liverpool, along with other events on this date, and Jimmy's one remaining Burnley game came in the replay at Anfield. The club have decided, having seen that thread, to invite Jimmy back onto the pitch at half time as today's special guest.

It always guarantees him the reception that he deserves and is always something of a thrill for the older supporters to get the chance to see the player regarded as our best ever stride out onto the pitch.

He's now a regular at Turf Moor for home games watching the Clarets, but 45 years since I last saw him play for us, it really doesn't seem that long ago. I was fortunate, very fortunate in seeing him play, although perhaps not as fortunate as others who saw him at his peak.

Yes, very much a special Claret, and his presence makes it a special day.
