Brownhill makes better Workington start than Nizic

Workington suffered a 3-0 defeat at Gainsborough that leaves them bottom of the league and things went from bad to worse as the game went on. They were 1-0 down after five minutes then disaster struck for Nizic in the 20th minute.

Incredibly he's the seventh goalkeeper they've used this season but he was played into trouble by a poor back pass from defender Lee Andrews, conceded a penalty and was promptly sent off leaving central defender Kyle May to play the rest of the game in goal.

That means Nizic will miss their next game against Oxford City as he serves a one match ban, leaving Workington to find an eighth goalkeeper to fill in.

There was some bright news. Their local media reported: "On a day when Nizic's first appearance ended in an early red card, his fellow Burnley team mate Kyle Brownhill gave a very solid performance at left back on his debut."

The Workington team also included former Clarets Joe Jackson, Dave Lynch and Ross Wilson.

Workington have 14 points from 25 games. They now sit six points adrift of Worcester at the bottom of the league, and a further three points behind both Oxford and Worcester.
