Chappy – hard to believe

He admitted there had been discussions with West Brom but claimed, “If someone offered us £10 million for him then we’d take it, but none of us want to lose Richard Chaplow and it would be a real price we would let him out for.

"We’ve had discussions with West Brom, obviously we throw some figures in the air, they do. We are a million miles apart, that’s it, full stop, dead. We wouldn’t let him go, we’ve no need to let him go, everything’s got to be the best for the club.”

There we have it then, from the Chairman, Chappy will not be going to West Brom – but then …….

This morning the club sends out text messages to inform supporters that talks could be about to start again with manager Steve Cotterill claiming that West Brom had contacted Barry Kilby on the Wednesday.

But hang on, West Brom manager Bryan Robson is saying that they won’t pay over the odds and said, “The fee has got to be reasonable and if Burnley go beyond what we feel our valuation of Chaplow is then the deal will not happen.”

Given that we were a million miles apart it seems pointless the two clubs even speaking again if West Brom are not prepared to pay the large fee that Kilby would be demand, and they obviously aren’t.

Simple then, Chappy isn’t going to West Brom. So why do the rumours still persist that he is on his way to the Hawthorns? Let us know if you have any idea because we certainly don’t.
