Charlie Holt back in claret and blue

He played for a number of local non-league clubs last season but he's the second ex-Claret to sign for new Bay boss Ash Hoskin following on from Archie Love who was also released last year after a season with the development squad.

An attempt to bring in another former Burnley development squad player failed but Hoskin has made a number of signings who featured in their opening pre-season friendly against Wrexham with both Holt and Love making their debuts.

They will play three more pre-season games, against Bangor City, Bolton and Bala Town before facing Burnley on Friday 31st July.

Another former Claret has been in the news this week. That's Peter Devine who has become the new manager of AFC Darwen. Devine was signed by Burnley on a free transfer from Blackburn in the summer of 1984 but played his last game as the 1985/86 season came to a close.

He scored a stunning late equaliser for us at Colchester in the last match of the season with what proved to be his last game in league football. A car accident on holiday that summer in Corfu was so serious that it ended his professional career.

He returned to Turf Moor for a while as Football in the Community Officer but his claim to fame was his penalty miss for Lancaster City that landed itself on a number of old football blunders.
