Derry City's Kevin Deery has been rewarded with a testimonial and rather than go for a game against another club he decided to invite back some old favourites.
"I thought I would try something different and get some former players back," Deery said. "Although they are plying their trade with much bigger clubs, I think they miss this place and the craic with the boys.
"It is going to be a light hearted affair, there will not be any fierce tackles flying in. It is more of an occasion and I am looking forward to them being out on this pitch again."
Deery is taking the opportunity to fit the game in this weekend with the Airtricity League currently enjoying a mid-season break and Lafferty will be joined by players such as Paddy McCourt and Niall McGinn who are with Celtic and Aberdeen respectively, and James McClean who plays in the Premier League with Sunderland.
If any Burnley supporters are in the area and would like to take in the game, it will kick at 5 p.m. on Saturday at Brandywell. Admission is £10 (adults) and £5 (concessions) and the local Alzheimer's Society will also benefit from the game.
