But, catching up on things, we go back to the last game of January and the result from the Sunderland game which ensured George Boyd was voted our player of the month, just ahead of Danny Ings and Michael Keane.
Ashley Barnes, the December player of the month, came out top in the disappointing performance at the Stadium of Light. He won the man of the match with 37.1% of the vote, over double the 17.4% won by Kieran Trippier who took second place. Third and fourth places went to Ben Mee and Boyd with 7.8% and 7.2% respectively.
The player ratings were, as you would expect, low after arguably our most disappointing performance of the season and only goalkeeper Tom Heaton was able to get a rating of six or more, an average performance.
He won the ratings with 6.07 out of 10 with Barnes now second with a rating of 5.85. Trippier came in third with 5.67 and Boyd's 5.52 out of 10 meant he finished fourth.
That result brought Barnes eight points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year. There were five points each for Heaton and Trippier and two each for Boyd and Mee.
Those points have taken Boyd and Barnes ever closer to Scott Arfield in third place and Barnes, now fifth, is only 12 points behind Jason Shackell who is second. Ings still leads the table by 15 points.
With the cup ties against Spurs, we played six games during January and Boyd won the most points with 22, but it was very close. Ings was second with 19 points and followed by Keane (18), Trippier (16) and Mee (15).
