Grant back in action at Derby

The last word from Burnley regarding Lee’s loan was that it was expected he would be returning to Derby, but there hasn’t been any confirmation. But he was back at Derby at the beginning of this week and lined up in a behind closed doors game against Port Vale.

Grant spent two months with the Clarets and came straight into the first team to replace the suspended Brian Jensen in the home game against Leicester. He kept a clean sheet and had to work hard for that in the latter part of the game, helping the Clarets to a 1-0 win.

Three days later and Jensen was back in goal at Leeds and since then Lee’s only action has been two reserve games although he’s been on the bench for all the subsequent first team games.

Steve Cotterill said last week that he would like to keep him but with Grant looking to be playing rather than sitting on the bench, along with the cost of keeping him, he expected him to return to Derby.

He’s done that and that leaves the Clarets with just one fit goalkeeper at the club.
