Prior to that he hadn’t had a bad game at all with just three yellow cards but certainly left Stan fuming at the end.
Arthur in fact is the only player to be sent off by the Sheffield official this season in 15 games that have also yielded just 50 yellow cards. And the away teams haven’t over suffered with 26 of those cards going to home team players and 24 to away team players.
He’s calmed down somewhat this season with 26 of those cards coming in the first four matches and only 24 in the last 11.
There’s no doubt that he does like to be the main attraction at times but he is to be fair a very good referee.
He will be assisted at Wigan by Nigel Bannister (East Yorkshire) and Ceri Richards (Carmarthenshire).
