"We are delighted to have John on board again," the centre manager Vince Overson said of the 34-year-old who is a qualified level 3 coach. "He's recognised as a local lad with a wealth of football experience and he has the temperament and intelligence to be a good role modey for the young lads.
"As a former player he knows about the ethos of the club with the added knowledge, as someone who came through the ranks, of where potential can take you."
Mullin had three spells as a player with Burnley. Having started his career with us he moved to Sunderland but returned on loan during the Chris Waddle season of 1997/98. Just over a year later, in the summer of 1999, he was signed by Stan Ternent and remained with the Clarets until moving to Rotherham in October 2000. He's since played for both Tranmere and Accrington.
John said after the news was confirmed: "I am really pleased to be back involved with the club. It's a club I know really well and I was really pleased they approached me.
"Hopefully I can pass on what I have learned over the years and look to try and help the club bring through some more good young players."
