Just three home debutants

Ade Akinbiyi will be making his second home debut, guaranteed to last longer than his first, whilst Mike Pollitt and Eric Djemba-Djemba will be in the squad for the first time for a home game.

However, fans have been awaiting news of a further new signing since Steve revealed after the draw at Southampton that he was hopeful of signing a player who he had been monitoring for twelve to eighteen months.

It looks as though that deal could have fallen through and he's now said he's looking elsewhere to strengthen his squad. One national newspaper revealed a couple of days ago that we'd agreed a deal with Charlton for defender Jonathan Fortune, whilst yesterday it was reported online that Middlesbrough's Andrew Davies had turned us down.

There's been no confirmation from any club about either of these but today Steve said, “It is ongoing, but probably looking less likely than likely, and that means I'm onto something else now.”
