McEveley could need surgery

Jay was making his first start for the Clarets when he dislocated his knee in the FA Cup tie at Mansfield on Saturday and had played well at left back. But at the end of the game Stan said that he was looking at between ten and twelve weeks out.

It could be longer though and Jay’s season could be at an end even though he will not require any immediate surgery.

The Blackburn club doctor Phil Batty said: "Unlike the recent injury to Barry Ferguson, there is nothing broken so there is no surgery required at this stage.

"However the injury is still under investigation, surgery could be required at some point. It is impossible to say at this stage how long he will be out of action."

We are unlikely to see Jay McEveley in a Claret & Blue shirt again and can only hope that he makes a full recovery and is back playing as soon as possible.
