Tom has come right through the club's centre of excellence from the age of eight and three years ago was the youth team captain when we reached the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup. Unfortunately, illness prevented him playing in the games against Blackburn.
Since moving up to the development squad he's enjoyed loans with Barrow and more recently those at Lincoln and Carlisle but still awaits his first team debut at Turf Moor, although he was on the bench at Millwall just over two years ago on the day Sam Vokes and Danny Ings scored in the same game for the first time to give us a 2-0 win.
Tom is a Burnley fan, and today said: "This means everything to me. I have been on one year contracts for the last few years now and for me, to be given a longer deal is massive.
"You always get worried when you come close to the end of your contract and you know you have to work hard and impress and that is what I have been doing and luckily I have been rewarded for it.
"I have gained massively from my loan spells this season. My first game for Lincoln was in front of 2,000 fans in non-league and then, a few months later, my first league game for Carlisle was at Portsmouth in front of 15,000 fans, so it helps you learn the game more and how you deal with different circumstances like that."
Anderson becomes the third central defender to sign a contract with the Clarets this month, following on from Kevin Long and Michael Keane.
