Norwich game falls victim to the weather
Once again, observers in the ground have told us it is the area of the pitch in front of the Bob Lord Stand which had been covered overnight. Just about three hours before the news of the postponement came the club were indicating there was no problem with the pitch yet despite there being no further rain the referee has deemed it unplayable.
It is believed the two managers were happy to play but the news just after 1:30 confirmed that a second successive home game had been called off, and with worse weather forecast over the next two to three days it must put the Stoke game in serious doubt.
So Ade Akinbiyi, Mike Pollitt and Eric Djemba-Djemba will have to wait a while longer for their home debuts, although sympathy must go to both Burnley and Norwich supporters who have travelled long distances to get to the game. This is the second time Norwich have seen games called off at Burnley at the eleventh hour in recent years, a waterlogged pitch saw the game called off less than an hour before kick off in the 2000/01 season, but that was due to a late downpour, similar to the problems that saw our game at Reading called off two weeks ago.
There's no news of any new date for the game as yet.
