"I am glad that it now applies to one and a half years, and I hope and believe I can bring a lot to the team. We have a great challenge this spring and I will do my best to fulfil all the expectations.
"I remember Brøndby stadium as something special by the many supportive fans, and I am looking forward to running onto the pitch again, if the coach gives me the chance.
"But right now it is about getting started with training and to get back into fighting form. I know most of the players so I am very pleased to be here again."
He played ten games in the blågult last season and coach Kent Nielsen said on completing the transfer: "It is a joyful reunion with a player we know well. Remco is a type of player who goes in and takes responsibility, both on and off the pitch.
"He is a real pro, and we noticed right away that he has played at the highest level, and his experience in the Champions League matches may be valuable to our team."
At the end of last season van der Schaaf picked up a shoulder injury whilst at Brøndby. Former Burnley boss Owen Coyle dismissed any suggestion of him requiring surgery but Nielsen added: "We have been assured that Remco is ready again after his surgery. He will train fully with us and we expect he is ready.
"He won't spend time learning the environment so he can focus on football right from the first workout."
