Shandy joins two ex-Clarets at York

Shandy has been out injured for much of this season with a stress fracture of the shin and has only recently got back to playing and was a second half substitute in the reserve team win over Sheffield United on Wednesday.

He made is only Football League appearance for the Clarets two years ago this weekend at Crewe when he came on as an 81st minute substitute for Ian Moore. Stan said at the time that he would get a start before the end of the season but it didn’t happen and he has not made the first team squad since.

Last season he had two loan periods away, the first with St. Patrick’s in Dublin and the second with then Conference club Stalybridge Celtic.

This time he will get the opportunity to add some Football League appearances to that one at Crewe and is named in the York squad that takes on Macclesfield tomorrow at Bootham Crescent.

He’s way down the pecking order at the Turf now and it is believed that the decision to release him has already been made. But some good form and a few games at York and who knows.
