The conditions were very much responsible for us going a goal behind when a back pass took a ridiculous bounce which caused Michael Hale to slice a clearance straight to an Oldham player who promptly scored.
But it wasn’t just the pitch and this was a poor all round performance from the young Clarets who had convincingly beaten Oldham 6-0 in December at Gawthorpe. On that occasion Rhys Carpenter grabbed a hat trick, this time he scored our only goal from the penalty spot.
Coach Terry Pashley was not happy with the performance, the third consecutive defeat. There are now just two more to play in this league in the next two weeks at Blackpool and then at home to Preston.
